The USA is not only the largest economy in the world In the present day, thousands of people from different parts of the globe still reflect on the United States of America to be the land of opportunity. Nevertheless, like all countries, even the USA has its own customs and practices that all visitors should be aware of. Therefore it is important to be well informed about immigration practices and US laws.

The following are a few suitable tips that can help for a blissful trip to the USA:

Create a budgetary outline. The rental fees and food apart from various daily costs must be included in your travel budget and your financial outline if you intend on relocating to a particular state of this country.

Make any necessary arrangements for your pets. You'll want to keep them out of the way of the movers and keep their stress levels to a minimum - the actual move will be stress enough for them.

It is necessary that you hold all legal documents like visas that necessary for visiting or shifting base to this country. Keep copies of your travel permits and visa with you at all times.

Carrying dangerous goods in transit is illegal and will get you into legal trouble in the US. Be aware of what goods you are allowed to carry and make sure that you have the necessary papers should you actually be carrying dangerous goods.

This number is most important number for any American, you’ll need to get one in order to do anything ‘official’. In order to apply you need to be in the US for at least 4 weeks. Find your local Social Security office and pay them a visit. The application process will take another 2-6 weeks, so within a few months of your arrival, you should receive the service number. Without it you can’t get officially paid, get a drivers licence or get credit.

There are various privileges enjoyed by Green Card or Permanent Resident Card holders. Moreover, if you want to shift base to the US, this is a compulsory requirement. So make sure that you apply for the same.
If you’re moving from the UK, ask your bank if they’ll mirror your accounts in the US. You won’t be able to use internet banking though, as that requires a Social Security number for authentication.

Depending on your State of residence you’ll be able to drive car for between 30-90 days without taking any kind of test (assuming you have a full UK licence). Contact your local DMV to book a written and driving test to get the 2nd most important form of ID; the State’s driving licence.

If you get hurt, you’ll pay. For everything! So get some health insurance. Hopefully your company will have a plan. The insurance varies massively and you may find that you have to pay hundreds of dollars for simply visiting a doctor but million dollar operations are free.

To find a home there’s a certain amount you can do online with services, but you’ll need to find a realtor. These guys have the key to the MLS (which is the service where all homes have to be listed for sale) and will have the insider knowledge to place you in the right area.

Identify the US region that is populated by government institutions well within reach, more so the government departments. Embassies, police stations, and banks among others are great places to be near you whilst you're on your US trip or finalizing your plans of relocating to this country with your family.

Give importance to the schools and universities available in a particular state whenever you're relocating with your school-aged children. Ask around for the opportunities being provided by the universities and schools to immigrants such as scholarship programs and incentives that are available for British nationals and the like.
